Nobody hires staff they believe will steal from them, or advertise for customers that will shop lift, yet research clearly shows that this is what we inevitably do on a regular basis. Depending on the retail sector you work in, the average retailer is losing between 1-2% of their annual sales to “retail shrinkage”.

Studies including companies with larger more sophisticated Loss Prevention departments tend to put Staff theft as the number one area of loss and customer theft as the second area. Four of the five studies point to worrying trends in the increase in staff theft and organised shoplifting gangs.
